because it's a day of love.

where the flap jack did last week go?
i guess time flies when you actually have things to do other than watch a remarkable amount of Netflix/The Office and shnuggle your pup.
(side note: garrett and i watch The Office from the Pilot on once every six months or so. and i guess we reached that six month mark because we started watching it again a couple weeks ago. but the fact of the matter is, i cannot handle Jim and Pam not being together. so i have to blast through the first three seasons (aka "the dark days") like a navel torpedo. but hey, good news: Jim and Pam just got engaged...again.)

anyways, now that you are in full judgement mode, let's talk about Valentine's day.

here's the facts: by all accounts, Valentine's day should be one of my very favorite days of the year.

the color scheme is perfection (what's up wedding colors?! check out my cutesy wreath.).

the food is mostly chocolate, chocolate coated, chocolate filled or sprinkled with chocolate. or pink. and pink food is tasty, too.

and the concept is pretty great. i mean..you can't really go wrong with celebrating chocolate love, can you?

but the fact of the matter is, Valentine's day is still a little sucky. and despite the color scheme, the delicious chocolate and the celebration of love, it' just not my favorite.

but the other thing is, i really, really, really want it to be one of my very, very favorite holidays.

so i'm working really hard this week to make this valentine's day just as awesome as every Hallmark card and Kay Jewelers commercial makes it seem. and i plan on doing so on the very same poor college student/young married couple budget i live on every other week of the year. holla! (and if it still sucks then i'll just buy some day after valentine's day candy and eat my feelings. or i'll just get over it. we'll see.)

and i will be posting about all of it here. so come back and read about the Valentine's day greatness that is going down this week.

also, you should join in on this Valentine's link up that is going on on the 14th. it should be great.

  1. I am linking up too! Hubby already answered the questions and I can't wait to share ;) V-day isn't my fave holiday, but it's fun. I actually dislike pink (gasp, I know), but I do like snuggling with my one and only Valentine. We don't do presents, so it's no pressure. I like it better that way.

  2. I love your wreath! I have a problem with decorating for every holiday with my wedding colors as well, no worries! Even our Christmas tree decorations are matched to our wedding colors! :)
P.S. I found your blog through Stories of Kel, well, I got to your design blog through that and your personal blog through your design blog! Love it!
